B.S.C. was founded as Blue Star Chemicals in 1947 with the original intention
to offer fine newly developed ingredients for the brewing
industry. The product range consisted in liquid and powder chill proofing
agents, foam stabilizers and hop extracts.
Throughout the years the company established itself with two
successful brands: Cristalase® and Cristalfoam®.
As
the use of natural enzymes became more popular, new formulations in liquid and powder form were
developed for
applications in the food, feed and pharmaceutical industry.
Enzymes are defined as organic structures having
the
ability to catalyze and accelerate natural reactions
following the well known chemical equation of Michaelis-Menten.
Enzymes can be of bacterial, fungal, animal
and vegetal origin. While they are naturally present in our
everyday life, they also contribute to our way of living
and our general health.
At
present, it is clear that the future for enzymes of vegetal
origin is promising.
Substantial research work is done
worldwide amongst various outstanding companies. Much
more news is expected on this in the near future.
